A LITTLE ABOUT US

Founded by Cory Plowman in the spring of 2009. Mighty Atomic Industries is a comic book publisher located in Baltimore, Maryland.  A collective of long-time friends with a shared love of comics, gaming, and the great chain of Nerdery, the gang at Mighty Atomics is working hard to channel their creative energies into producing books that are timely, clever, and beautifully illustrated..

Cory Plowman - cory@mightyatomic.com

Publisher, Editor-in-Chief

Cory grew up in Baltimore, went to art school, and lived in NYC for most of his adult life. In his late twenties it dawned on him that he had good ideas and a follow-through attitude, but lacked the raw talent to turn his vision into actual books. He also learned that the people with raw talent tend to lack the follow-through, and that those talented slackers were all around him. So here he is, back in Baltimore, enabling artists and writers to tell their stories without having to bother learning the business of publishing to do it.

Alex Gradet - gradet@mightyatomic.com

Writer, Editor

Alexander Gradet began his career as a writers’ assistant on the Academy Award-nominated animated feature Ice Age. His recent projects include adapting and directing an off-Broadway stage adaptation of the cult classic film Clue; writing and directing the short film Tell Me Off for Two Dollars (with assists from future-Mighty Atomic folk Cory Plowman and Will Shanklin); and writing issue #45 of DC Comics' Justice League Unlimited (that the title folded two issues later isn't strictly his fault).

Betsy Plowman - betsy@mightyatomic.com

Marketing Director, Writer

After earning an MFA in Creative Writing in 2000, Betsy Plowman began an illustrious career in book publishing. She has worked in advertising and marketing in New York City for trade publishers including St. Martin’s Press, Penguin, HarperCollins Children’s Books, and Hyperion. On the sly, she works as a freelance copywriter and was, at one time, a ghostwriter for a New York Times bestselling children’s author. She and her husband left New York in April 2009 and now live in Baltimore with their mutt, Parker.

William Shanklin - will@mightyatomic.com

Writer, Artist

Will grew up in baltimore and went to art school. The same one as Cory as a matter of fact! Long story short, the sketches and doodles lining his textbooks in class eventually became full blown graphic novels.
